Are you a local business? Show your support for Business for Bakerloo now!

The Bakerloo Line Upgrade & Extension project will transform transport links across the capital, linking customers and employees to businesses, new and old. As the UK Government focuses on unlocking economic growth and raising productivity across the country, we want to show them the potential this project has to do just that for not only London - but the UK too.

Benefits the Bakerloo Line Upgrade & Extension will bring to your business

  • The project will drive national growth by contributing £1.5bn in gross added value (GVA) to the UK economy per annum, securing London’s competitive global position and facilitating growth in the North of England

  • 150,000 good jobs will be supported across the full length of the line, including 7,050 Gross Direct Construction jobs per year to deliver the project, 775 of which are expected to be apprenticeship roles.

  • With two-thirds of Transport for London suppliers based outside of London in 2023/24, including in Goole, Yorkshire, where the Bakerloo Line trains will be built, the project provides a unique opportunity to raise productivity in the London & North regions simultaneously

  • Enhancing connectivity for 48% of those living within reach of the existing line within the top 30% most deprived communities in England, extending the line will breakdown existing barriers to the good employment that will improve their living standards.

  • With 1.2 million jobs becoming accessible within 45 minutes of Catford; 125,000 jobs within 45 minutes of Old Kent Road; and 100,000 jobs within 45 minutes of Hayes, increased connectivity will also increase footfall of potential consumers.

  • The line will also support the delivery of 107,000 new homes across the full length of the line providing incentive for developers to commit to housing projects from Harrow to Hayes.

Our sister campaign, Business for Bakerloo

A number of businesses including LandSec and Delancey have come together to create the Business for Bakerloo campaign aimed at demonstrating to the UK Government the breadth of business support the Bakerloo Line Upgrade & Extension has, guaranteeing that delivering the project will unlock economic growth.

The campaign has a two-tiered membership system in place to allow businesses of all shapes and sizes join. The tiers are:

  • Patrons: financial backers of the campaign with a direct say in the strategy, operation and running of the campaign.
  • Supporters: public advocates of the campaign - no financial contribution is required for this tier.

We at Back the Bakerloo would encourage any supportive business, big or small, to sign-up to the Business for Bakerloo campaign here alongside our own pledge to strengthen the message of business support for the Bakerloo Line Upgrade & Extension and build pressure on the UK Government to secure the funding required.
